Apple Launches OLED iPad Mini, M6 iMac and Touch MacBook Pros
Apple's new OLED iPad mini, M6 iMac and touchscreen MacBook Pros are available today.
TL;DR
- OLED iPad mini features 8.5-inch display, A20 Pro chip and IP67 rating, starting at $699.
- M6 iMac and entry 14-inch MacBook Pro get updated chips with Wi-Fi 7 support.
- Touchscreen 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros use PROLED XDR OLED and start at $2,899.
Apple’s latest gear is live. The new iPad mini has an 8.5-inch OLED display with up to 1,200 nits peak brightness and a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio. It runs on an A20 Pro chip, adds Wi-Fi 7 via the N1 wireless chip, and measures 5.4mm thick at 255 grams.
This is the first iPad with IP67 water and dust resistance thanks to its sealed Acoustic Display that vibrates to make sound without speaker holes. The 12MP front camera sits on the landscape edge for calls, and it works with Apple Pencil Pro. Storage starts at 128GB with nano-texture glass on 256GB and 512GB models. US pricing begins at $699.
M6 iMac and entry MacBook Pro
The updated iMac brings the M6 chip with up to 12-core CPU and GPU options. It supports Wi-Fi 7 and optional 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet. Pricing starts at $1,499.
The base 14-inch MacBook Pro also gets the M6 chip with 12-core CPU and GPU, starting at $1,999. Both keep the familiar design but add the new wireless features.
Touchscreen MacBook Pros arrive
The big news is the first Mac with a touchscreen. These 14-inch and 16-inch models use PROLED XDR OLED panels, M5 Pro or M5 Max chips, and replace the notch with Dynamic Island. They start at $2,899 and $3,399. The machines are thinner and lighter than prior mini-LED versions, and the glowing Apple logo returns.
Many high-end configs ship in 2-3 weeks online, so Apple Stores may be the faster route for base models.
The Tea
Apple finally gave the iPad mini a proper modern screen and made the MacBook Pro touchable. These moves close long-standing gaps, but the 60Hz limit on the mini shows where the company still draws the line on smaller devices.
