TL;DR

  • Claude Personal Finance beta lets Pro, Max, and Ultra subscribers link bank accounts via Plaid.
  • It offers read-only access for spending charts, category sorting, and bill tracking in plain language.
  • Chats stay private, separate from training data, with no ads or money-moving features.

Anthropic has added Personal Finance to Claude, letting users connect bank and card accounts for spending analysis. The feature starts rolling out in beta to Pro, Max, and Ultra subscribers in the US.

Claude connects accounts through Plaid, so it never sees passwords. It gets read-only access to account names, types, balances, credit limits, and up to two years of transactions. No moving money, investing, or managing accounts is possible.

The tool builds spending charts, payment calendars, and custom dashboards. Users can ask it to sort transactions into categories or flag unusual purchases, rising bills, unexpected fees, and subscriptions. It explains everything in plain language and can define financial terms.

Chats in Personal Finance stay separate. They are not used for model training and do not enter Claude’s shared memory. The tool also skips ads or sponsored product pushes.

How it stacks up

OpenAI added a similar finance feature to ChatGPT back in May. Both tools focus on analysis rather than transactions.

The Tea

Practical AI agents just got one step closer for everyday users. Bank linking shows people are ready to hand over data when the AI stays helpful and hands-off.
