Polygon.com: GTA 6 Code-in-Box Copies Reach Stores
Polygon.com reports Rockstar sent early code-in-box GTA 6 editions to retailers, giving fans a first look at the boxes.
TL;DR
- Polygon.com says Rockstar shipped code-in-box GTA 6 editions to stores early.
- MediaMarkt in Germany posted photos of the box and pre-order poster on Instagram.
- Digital preloads start Nov. 10; code-in-box codes arrive later but game launches Nov. 19.
Polygon.com reports that Rockstar Games has started sending code-in-box versions of Grand Theft Auto 6 to stores so they can hand them out on launch day.
What Polygon.com saw
According to Polygon.com, shipments reached MediaMarkt stores in Germany. The retailer posted the physical edition on its Instagram stories, letting everyone catch a first look at the poster that comes with pre-orders.
Polygon.com also describes an employee sharing a close-up of the box. It shows the official game description, screenshots of Jason, Lucia, and Leonida, plus labels for online support and in-game purchases. Polygon.com notes that the online support tag probably points to mini-game leaderboards rather than GTA Online.
Digital vs physical timing
Polygon.com says PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X players who bought the game digitally can start preloading at midnight on Nov. 10. Those who chose the code-in-box edition have to wait until Thursday for their code.
The site adds that the actual release date remains Nov. 19. Polygon.com points out that these physical boxes do not contain a disc, yet seeing them in stores still makes the launch feel closer for some fans.
The Tea
Even without a disc inside, the sight of real boxes landing at stores turns the November 19 date from a rumor into something you can actually touch. Polygon.com’s photos are the first concrete sign that Rockstar is treating this launch like any other big retail drop, and that alone is enough to keep the hype machine spinning.
