iPhone Duo Hits 100k Optimized Apps in Two Weeks
Apple's foldable reaches over 100,000 optimized apps just two weeks after launch.

TL;DR
- Apple says more than 100,000 apps are now optimized for the iPhone Duo.
- These apps use the iOS 27.1 SDK or newer and carry a Made for iPhone Duo badge.
- Workshops in 19 cities sped up updates, though many popular apps still lag.
Apple dropped the iPhone Duo two weeks ago. The company now reports more than 100,000 apps built specifically for the foldable.
These apps use the iOS 27.1 SDK or newer. They stretch across both screens and shift controls to the status bar. A Made for iPhone Duo badge appears on their App Store pages.
Thousands more join daily. Recent updates cover Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Zoom, Etsy, Halide Mark III, NBA, NHL, Instagram, Netflix, WhatsApp, and YouTube.
Workshops sped things up
Apple held over 50 workshops in 19 cities. Thousands of developers attended to test the device and update their apps.
The enthusiasm has been incredible, said Susan Prescott, Apple’s VP of Worldwide Developer Relations.
Many popular apps still lag. Amazon Fire TV, DoorDash, Duolingo, Google Docs, PayPal, Starbucks, Uber Eats, and Venmo are among those not yet optimized. Older apps often appear centered with black bars on the sides.
Some hiccups remain
A few apps that earned the badge still feel rough. Instagram received the label early but drew complaints about layout issues.
Newer iOS 27.2 support for Apple Pencil (USB-C) helps creative apps like Procreate Pocket and Apple Notes.
The Tea
Two weeks in, the Duo already has serious app momentum. The gap between updated and untouched apps is shrinking fast, but the real test is whether everyday tools catch up before the novelty wears off.
